Remove the Amazon ebook explaining how to handle their sales rankings

The Amazon page restored to book of Thomas Hertog, now with reviews and ratings removed

The author of an eBook that provides details about how easily bestselling rankings from Amazon can be manipulated accused the retail giant online "hypocrisy" after the title has been temporarily removed from the site throughout the new year.


On the day of Kindle died, claims Thomas Hertog you can get your own book for the best-selling number one spot in its category at Amazon simply by posting fake reviews, to vote in favour and download copies of Kindle ebook.


Hertog claimed that he managed to do just that with his own personal finance book 2009 dangers of wealth, push it up books by bestselling authors, including Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump, although really have sold a mere 32 copies to third parties.


The author said it took "about 45 days" to purchase the book for the number one spot on personal finance. "There once was a review or vote rejected by Amazon," he wrote.


Hertog concluded that rankings best-seller from Amazon are "inaccurate," "artificial" and "misleading" customers, saying that his discoveries meant "the Kindle is dead experience".


Hertog published his exhibition the day the Kindle died in December, but claims that the title was taken from websites from Amazon in the new year after an article about the book appeared on tech site TechEye. Dangers of wealth was also removed Amazon listings on new year's Eve. Both books are now once again for sale on the site, but with their sales rankings and reviews now removed.

In a declaration during the furore retailer said: "Amazon believes that censorship is not to sell certain books simply because we or other people believe that your message is objectionable."

Amazon.com refused to respond to requests for comment yesterday.
